EMPOWERING WOMEN WITH UBER

Since I can remember, I’ve always gotten along with older girls. I  became their “little sister” and aspired to have the confidence they exuded without any fear or hesitation. Fast forward to becoming a woman. With time, I noticed that I started becoming the “big sister” to young girls growing up around me. That’s one of the many reasons I created a blog and wanted to use my voice to reach girls of all ages. With so much going on in the world and more and more underrepresented people speaking out, I’m so happy to partner with Uber to shed light on why representation in the workplace matters.

Uber is showing how they are branching out from the “old-school” corporate world by putting systems in place to empower within the organization. Uber is committed to empowering women and underrepresented groups. One way they are empowering others is through creating groups within the organization like Women of Uber and Los Ubers. Los Ubers is a group that celebrates and advocates for Latinx communities in and outside of Uber. They’re also committed to the next generation of women in tech and recently donated $3 million to organizations like Girls Who Code, BUILD and Technovation which will be spread out over the next 3 years. Increasing representation and forming a community is so important.

On a personal note, Uber empowers me every day. When it comes to my schedule, it’s always all over the place. Uber helps me any time I have an event, meeting or audition and still have to deal with calls, emails and submitting content – all in one day. When I’m driving, I can’t do all that… it’s impossible! Jumping into an Uber and not having to worry about a thing but work while I get to my next destination, makes a hectic day that much smoother. As a rider, knowing that Uber as a whole is committed to empowering people like me is so awesome. I can’t wait to see what other things Uber does in the next few years to make sure underrepresented voices are heard. For now, I’m thankful because I can’t possibly imagine life now without it.

This post is in partnership with Uber.
